Does anyone know where to find the bottom trim for 41 fender skirts? I am referring to the curved bottom skirts for 41, not the half-moon tear drops for 42-48. All of the big sources (Chevs of 40s, etc.) only offer the half-moon style. I found a place in CA that makes the correct reproduction skirt (Fender Skirt Depot), and they picture the trim on their website, but it is no longer available from their supplier. This has proven to be a tough part to find.
Thanks Don 41

Don, I need a set also, along with the spacer between the rockers and the skirt. The spacer being as important as the skirt trim for looks. I can't understand why no one has reproduced the stinkin things. Can't be that hard for someone skilled in that sort of thing. Mercy! Good luck and if you find a source, please let me know. Charlie

Charlie...thanks for your response.
If my information is correct, the skirts we have were only made in 41. For some reason, chevy opted to go with the goofy design in 42 through 48. From my perspective, the 41 skirt was truly beautiful. It complemented the lines of the car, and it looked like it was designed to fit the car. The half-moons, or whatever they are called, look like after- market, trash can lids.
Something else I discovered...I let Chevs of the 40s talk me into buying the 1942+ gravel guards, which are stainless steel rather than rubber, which was stock in 41. Having seen a number of restored 41s with stainless guards, which made the transition between the rocker and skirt trim, I thought it would be a neat idea and look good. What I found, however, is that the stainless guards from Chevs of the 40s are much wider than the rubber guards, and they interfere with the skirts. So...don't let anyone steer you in this direction if you want to go with the proper skirts. It will cost you a couple hundred bucks...and won't work.
I have a friend who is a master machinist, and he has volunteered to try to make me a set of trim pieces. I wanted to post the question, however, before getting him wrapped around the axle, to see if anyone knows a source. Looks like he may be my only option.
Good luck in your search. Don

Thanks for responding with the link to Fender Skirt Depot. Unfortunately, that is where I bought my skirts and attempted to buy the trim, which is pictured with the skirt. When I spoke with the owner of the Fender Skirt Depot, he informed me that the person who made the trim for him had recently passed away and that the trim was no longer available. That was about a year or so ago. That is all the details I have, but it proves that the reproduction tools and techniques existed recently. If someone could find out where, they could possibly make a few bucks fabricating these things for 41 owners.

Don, What luck we have. As Freddy Fender once said, "I'm so unlucky that If I died and was reincarnated I'd probably come back as myself" or words to that effect. Charlie

"I'm so unlucky that If I died and was reincarnated I'd probably come back as myself" In your case Charlie, We certainly hope so. This old club just would not be the same.
