I have the front shocks off my 47. They are leaking where the arms pivot. Is their anything I can do to stop the leak? I can't afford new ones. Is it possible to cut the arms were their welded to get them off the shock body to get at the seals? Also what kind of fluid can I use in them? Thanks! auto

Answer to first question-Its possible but not without the proper equipment.Shafts may also be worn + welding back together would require a special device to keep the arms in perfect alignment with each other.

Fluid-hydralic jack oil,automatic trans. fluid.power steering fluid.

Thanks so much Chevgene. I'm an old retired guy having fun working on this old thing. I don't know if I will do anything on the shocks, but if I want to stop the leaks I will have to. Thanks again.

Try finding some at Iola this July.I see them quite often up there.Just check and see that they have the same number stamped on the tin cover-2100A & B.
If yours are just leaking a little

#30 hydralic oil may help.

Thanks again! They do seem to be leaking only a Sm. amount. I will try the #30, it may help. I also will try and make Iola in July, I may be able to find some things I need. I haven't been at this to long. I always wanted to but did not have the time until I retired.

Hey Guys,
According to my 29-46 parts book the front shocks are 2200A, 2200B and the rears are 2100A and 2100B. Does this seem correct? Ron
