Ladies and Gents
Its been a long time since I used my ring compressor and when I looked at the ring set on one of my pistons this summer I did not use it reinstalling the piston. They looked wide , sharp , clean and lots of expansion leaving cylinder. I just glanced at them as I was changing head and thought I would replace them if they did not look so nice. They looked very nice. The next day after reassembly it dawned on me that the set did not have an oiler ring, at least that's what I recall seeing and my buddy noted the same. Am I crazy or what, I have extra sets that came with extra parts for car and they have oiler rings that I was told were 1927. Comments please.

I have a 1927 Chevy Capital AA 4 Door also a 1927 Chevy Touring car, a 1936 Chevy 1/2 ton and a 2010 Corvette LT3 Convertible and a 1953 Packard Caribbean. My tow car is a 2011 Suburban.

So far all my Chevys have three ring pistons. Top and intermediate compression rings and lower oil rings. There are several types of oil rings.
