I purchased a rebuilt fuel pump for my 30 standard coupe. I also had purchased a new paper filter for it. The new filter would not fit flush into the indent of the glass bowl. Are there different glass bowls or filters?

Yes, on both accounts. There are different bowls and therefore different filters for the bowls.

I know The Filling Station Carries one Par No: FS-690

I scored mine off eBay, paid like $10 guy had several of them for sale, still in the original box from AC, and has the AC in the GLASS. Per the MPL the Chevrolet Part Number is 835919

So you will find two different AC glass bowl's out there....plus some other after market ones as well.

There is also couple of posting on there where I have listed the filters which will work for both types of bowl including the NAPA part number for them.

The filter which you get from the Filling Station will work with both bowls without a problem. You need to remove the bowl gasket and install the filter, do not remove the filter after gas has been on it. The filter will sit flat on the gasket surface. Then install the gasket that came with the filter.

Let me know if that helps.

NAPA is always a good source for vintage Chevrolet parts.

Just an observation, but Napa employees seem to have lots more experience and patience with helping get old outdated parts if they are still available. The Napa guys and gals in my town have been here for years. We have all the big chains here but I always try Napa first.

I don't go to my NAPA much any more.....after the girl behind the counter was more worried about her finger nails!
