My '52 has a 235ci w/dual intake manifold. At a steady speed, 30 to 40 mph, I get a severe "bucking" from the engine. Same thing if I take my foot off the accelerator and let it idle down. Runs great under any acceleration. Obviously carb problem. Tried different jets; #58's run too rich so I tried #51's which seem too lean. I've tried '52 carbs w/auto chokes and now have '51's with manual chokes, all with the same problem. I know duals reduce the manifold pressure somewhat but I don't think that's the problem.

I hope this is a problem someone else has dealt with and resolved. 'could sure use some suggestions.

sounds as if you have a major vacuum leak.
I would suspect in the manifold to head area.

Yep...it does sound like a possible vacuum leak. Could be around the carburetor base as well.

If you check for vacuum leaks, use the UNLIT propane torch, , check head to intake, carb to intake, as stated. If leak is discovered, RPM will increase with propane. Much cleaner and easier to check with propane, instead of sprays, water, etc.

Good suggestions. I'll give it the "propane" test in the morning!
