Working on 37 chev w/enclosed driveshaft and having a very hard time reassembling the ujoint at the rear of the xmission. The shop manual calls for use of tool J 970 "to assist in holding the front half of the yoke and the front ring while the nuts are being started on the bolts". Anybody know how to get one of these tools or make this job doable? My hands are too big and my patience too small!!!!! Thanks in advance for any help.

A piece of bailing wire works just as well as the tool. To see how it works go to Tech Talk and follow "School is in Session".

I have the tool but found a needle nose vise grip works better.

I have a Snap-on tool that works okay. Mechanics wire, hacksaw blade ziptie and other similar stuff works and you don't have to remember where you last put the tool.
