Just wondering if any of you guys can help identify this thing. It is a carburretor attached to a heavy cast iron device. But what is its function. Found on the back of an old Chevvy truck in a wrecking yard. ![[Linked Image from nimga.com]](http://nimga.com/m/j2UjL.jpg)

Could it have been a heater of some type. The carb reminds me of the one on my folks old oil stove.

I am not sure but it is not a cabin heater as the device is attached to the air intake side of the carburetor. It might be a heater for the air that enters the carburetor. Not sure why anyone would want much heat unless it was for an Antarctic machine.

Heavy duty oil-bath air cleaner? Notice the plug in the lower left corner of the cast iron box. The 'doors' could be access holes for cleaning purposes.

Sure beats me. After studying the object some, though, I think it may a 37 or 38 coupe that was in an earthquake zone years decades ago. It may have been swallowed in a fizzier and, shaped by pressure and continually regurgitated a few times to become shaped as it is. I think some may be found in either Argentina or India. Or, perhaps, Canada, in thinking in large abundance. Charlie

lol ...Charlie never ceases to amaze me, at least makes me chuckle from his postings Here Ya GO " Wallis "Certified" Oil Air Cleaner " ok found this, looks REALLY close to what you posted, it is on an OLD Wallis Tractor described "air cleaner"
Another Tractor same configuration Air Boxcan read the wallis info here, good info Look on page fourteen for info on it and how it works... pretty impressive ENGINEERING in this tractor, removable sleeves, and "The Wallis "Certified" Tractor will pull a full load on the belt all day with a glass of water sitting on the hood and not spill a drop, because the reciprocating parts are balanced…because the pistons are the Famous DeLuxe Make, which are lighter and stronger than other makes…because the cylinder walls of the removable sleeves are honed which gives and maintains a closer piston fit…because the gases are both vaporized and atomized in passing through the Rodgers Fuel-Saving Vaporizer to the cylinders and balances the charge to each cylinder."Thanks for the History Lesson !!
