I have a '37 Master series 2 dr sedan that's all original. In the number 2 position from the left next to the headlight switch is a black pushbutton with a chrome bezel. I removed it from the dash and it has 1 spade type connector on the back and it looks like it has never been used and is a momentary contact. I have a horn button on the steering wheel and a stomp start so I rule out those possibilities. WHAT'S IT FOR???

My '38 had a chrome plug in the hole. I put a cat's eye lighter in it for a while then a stem light for the under dash voltmeter I installed.

Like the others said, it was probably an aftermarket pushbutton for something..maybe for another horn, light, siren, ejection seat, etc...

Since you could get an accessory ash tray, I always thought that was where the lighter would go. Mine still has what appears to be the original chrome or nickel plug. Beamer

That is where the lighter is in my '37, it was there when I got it in 1967 but it is not the cats eye type it is probably a replacement or after market lighter.
