Does anyone make reproduction exterior wing windows for a 1931? I saw a picture of a closed car with them and they looked great. I looked in the Filling Station but did not find any.

I&I still has the "draft deflectors" (used on 1931-32 closed cars) listed in their catalog. The part number is WD01 and the price is $80 per set. That is for the brackets only, no glass. Their phone number is: (562) 531-8117. You might want to call them to check because I heard that they have discontinued this item.

Were these used on '32 'open' cars? :cool2:

subman576, there is a string on 'wind wings' on page 2 of this forum you might want to check out.

Nope. As mentioned above the "draft deflectors" were used on closed cars only, and not the cabriolet (which by the way was classified as a closed car, not an open car). "Wind Wings were used on the roadster and phaeton models. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Thanks JYD, So if the cabriolet is a closed car, why no wings? Were these 'after market' or 'dealer' or 'factory' installed items? ok

The cabriolet did not use "Draft Deflectors" because the draft deflector brackets were made to clamp inside of the upper and lower window channels on the closed cars, and the draft deflectors won't work on a cabriolet because of the convertible roof and etc. By the way, did you ever order the 1932 parts book, Service News, and the accessory manual from the Filling Station? They have some other '32 literature that you would be interested in as well.  laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

There was a good article on '32 chevys in Special Intrest Auto (SIA '95?) the car they used as an example was a '32 cabriolet. yipp

One of the things I noticed when reading the article was that the car had wind wings, which lead me think it was an option in '32. :(

If you like '32's this was a good article in the magazine, I got it last year from the company. :)

Hope there aren't a lot of mistakes in the article. mad

Hey, thanks JYD. Do they call them Draft Deflectors or something else in the catalog? Also do you know where there is a picture of what the glass is shaped like and what size?

In the I&I catalog they call them "Wing Wing Draft Deflectors", but they are actually "Draft Deflectors". There are pictures of them in the 1931 and 1932 accessory catalog, and also in the Chevrolet Service News. I don't have any information on the size of the glass however. :( :( laugh laugh laugh

I&I supplied a pattern for the glass with the brackets. The glass is only plain plate glass but most put safety glass in them. There was nothing etched on the glass. I was told that they would have supplied the glass but it was too much of a problem to ship with the brackets.
