I have a 31 sport coupe with the rear spare tire carrier. I want to remove the tire carrier so I can put on a replacement. My question is whether the bolts that hold the two arms to the gas tank cover go into nuts that are part of the body, or will the nuts fall off when I remove the bolts. If the nuts come loose, it looks like I will have to drop the gas tank to get to the location where the nuts are at. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Jim.

There are nuts as part of the rear cross member for the spare tire bracket bolts.
