I'm fixing to install my new step plate on the right rear fender. Are there any measurements I need to know about? Or do you eyeball it dead center at the top of the fender? I'm cringing at the thought of drilling a hole in my nice paint.I want to do it right the first time. There was no hole on the fender I have on my car.

The rumble seat step plate is mounted on the exact top center of the right rear fender in the center line of the fender from front to back and in the center line of the fender from left to right.

You might want to drill the hole from the backside. Drill bits on nice paint tend to walk real easy and fast. You can ruin the paint job real quick.

Good point. Also, put tape on the fender for marking the centerline of the hole and leave the tape in place when you drill the hole as well. The tape will protect the paint. Put the tape on both sides of the fender.

Don't forget to use a center punch before drilling the hole and drill a small pilot hole first.

Make sure the fender is mounted on the car then center the step pad on the fender. I used a 3/16 bit to start then I used a step drill to 5/16. I finished off by filing the hole square to fit the bottom of the step pad bolt.

That's a quality point, step pad has a carriage bolt that needs a square hole filed in the fender. Probably only those who have installed one would know that, tidbit.
