Can anyone tell me why would oil be coming out from where the distributor is located. Oil is dripping. It's not coming from the side pan, it was replaced with a new gasket.

Thank you

The distributor is a rather loose fit in the block. This is necessary so the vacuum advance can rotate the distributor. There are no seals or gaskets used. The oil should merely drain back by gravity.
Some thoughts.
breather pipe plugged causing crankcase presssure to build up
Sludge around the lower portion of the distributor block oil return.
The 1938 had a flat spot on the lower part of the distributor to make for better oil return. This could be done to a 1936.

I agree. The system is open to vent to the outside air via the crank case vent/oil re-fill tube. Where is the oil coming out at? Is it around the Distributor tube where it goes into the block? Must have a mud blocking the vent or crud in there causing pressure build up somehow. Could be a faulty fuel pump. It can leak gas into the oil; diluting the oil. Check your oil stick to see if over full!

Thank you for your reply, yes it is coming out from around the Distributor tube where it goes into the block and the dip stick shows it is full of oil.

The first thing I would do is remove the distributor and see what you find. I can give you instructions as how the changed the area in 1938 to prevent leakage.

If you file a flat spot on one side ofthe lower part of the housing just below th botton grove it will help. That is what the later ones used.
It prevents the oil from building up.

The 1932 distributor body had a flat area below the groove also.
