A couple of years ago there was extensive discussion about how the 600w of today is not the 600w of the '20s & '30s and that todays 680w has the similar specs as the old 600w.
My son is a mechanic and he was able get 680w from one of their oil suppliers. I only comes in 5 gallon buckets but that was not a problem for me since we have 4 or 5 Chevrolets that can use it in their transmissions and rearends. The oil I got was Chevron Cylinder Oil W ISO 680. It is thick and sticky! I don't plan to pour it in me winter!

It doesn't pour well in Arizona in the summer time either. Call one of the local oil dealer as indicated & ask for ISO680, but as mentioned the smallest it comes in 5 gallon pails. About 100.00...Joe

I use Lubriplate SPO 299. NAPA has it or can get it for you.

I have a 1930 Chevrolet and I use Penrite T-250 Transoil ( It Equates to the old 600W Oil - check the website www.penriteoil.com ) in the Transmission and Differential.

It is available in 1 Litre Bottles for $ 18.00 AUD . Made for Veteran and Vintage Cars.

I was looking for 600 W oil for my steering box last week and was having a tough time finding it. I looked at several places here in Phoenix for a suitable product including the Lubriplate product recommended by d2d2. I even called Lubriplates corporate office asking for the name of someone here in Phoenix that would sell the product. There were a couple of distributors here but they wanted to sell it in case lots only. Finally I called So-Cal Speed shop here in Phoenix and they said they have exactly what I needed. So-Cal specializes in Antique and Classic car restoration's. I went down and they had the 600 W in what was probably 1.5L plastic bottle. The cost was about $12.50. They told me that the 600 W product is equivalent to a product with a viscosity of 240-250 and this product was produced specifically for antiques of this vintage. When I called them and told them what I was looking for there was no hesitation on their part to let me know they had the exact product I was looking for. If you want more information you are welcome to contact me.
