Hello All,
In our new world order of modified vehicles and a pro-touring emphasis, I was curious of what everyone's opinions were on the optima 6V sealed batteries. I need to replace my 6-volt in the 54, however, with the restoration batteries becoming increasingly harder to get, the plastic toppers looking more and more ridiculous, and less of an onus on authenticity these days, I wonder if anyone had any opinions.

I haven't run one of their 6 volts, but I had one of their red-top 12 volts in my daily for about 9 years without a problem. Never leaked or had voltage drop in the winter / storage.

I got tired of replacing batteries in my 32 coupe so I went for the 6 volt Optima and a 6 volt battery tender trickle charger. These batteries have very high CCA's and it cranks my engine over like when I had the 8 volt in it (8 volt burned out the lights). This was one of the better investments I have made in a long time

I've been running a 6v Optima in my '38 for nine years now & it's still going strong. I had to zip tie a piece of 2x6 on each side to keep it from dropping through my battery "box" which is nothing but a 2.5" wide strip of steel under the floor. That's the one down side (other than price) to a 6v Optima is it being so narrow.

I have had a 6 volt Optima in my 50 convertible since July 2004 and it is still going strong! Well worth the $119 I paid for it ten years ago.

I put Optima's in all 5 of my cars. They are fantastic for all the reasons that people have mentioned above. And they are lasting much longer than the normal 5 or 6 years that you'd expect good lead-acid batteries to last.
No leak, high CCA cranking, and long life. With those attributes, the price is the LEAST of your worries.

Well here is a negative vote. I bought one when they first came out. Piece of junk. It didn't last but a short time. I went to Interstate batteries and have had good luck with them. I would not own another one of those Optima six-packs. So again, for the price of a snake-oil battery you could replace a it with a good regular Interstate battery and be ahead of the game. Just my opinion based on my experience. I believe all those voting YES are just wanting you to join the crowd and be miserable like them. Misery loves company. You know. So, again, I vote NO. I have had great service with my 6 volt Optima that is over 5 years old and going strong. The 12 volt I bought didn't last two years, but I got my $$ back.
I try to be the person my dog thought I was.

There is a 36 month warranty on the red top 6V batteries.
Prices are a lot cheaper than what it costs here down under.

Question on FIT
how does the Optima 6V Redtop FIT into say a 1929-32 Chevrolet ?? does it sit SQUARE in the standard battery spot ?? if so how did you compensate the difference to keep it from sliding around ??
Pictures would be Great !!
