I have removed the original rad from my 40 Coupe with some difficulty and would like to know if I am missing something before I attempt to install the refurbished rad. The clearance between the rad and fan is very tight, and there seems to be no way to remove the fan and reinstall it after the rad is back in.The fan support rods also get in the way even when front bolts are removed and lifted up as high as possible.Should i place a thin sheet of metal between the fan blades and rad to protect the rad when sliding it into place? Any tips appreciated.Thank You

Your suggestion of thin sheet is a good 1 and if I am correct the fan bolts direct to the water pump with only a thin pulley between. I would loosen these bolts 5 or 6 turns allowing the fan to wobble giving you more room to move the rad in as well.

I`ve taken my rad. out a few times now and each time by myself. It is difficult because of the close clearance to the fan .....I just prop the hood up as high as it will go and remove the support rods to the firewall ....disconnect everything on the rad. ...and get in the most favorable position for lifting it and up.. and out it come with miminal scraping of the rad fins and fan blades. Would be easier with another set of hands.
