I can send pictures of the 8 tube radio with a full description of what was done to it. It was disassembled, and the case was sandblasted and then painted the correct British Brown wrinkle paint. All of the paper capacitors were replaced with the modern type so that the radio will not catch on fire. The original vibrator was replaced with a modern version. The radio will not hum when you start it up. All of the vacuum tubes were checked and replaced where needed. I can't remember, but the speaker was either reconed or replaced. I will have to check. I have been buying 1940 radios for 25 years now for a VCCA radio technician. I have owned this 8 tube radio for about 20 years. In the past 15 years, I have purchased zero 6 tube radios and 1 other 8 tube radio. The other 8 tube radio was sooooo bad that the total inside was junk, but I bought it for the case. THIS 8 tube that I have for sale is in superb condition both physically and how it plays. The radio will be bench tested prior to shipment. Send me your email address and I will shoot you some pictures. I am at a VCCA event until Monday morning so, please wait on me responding with pictures. I will be on my computer each evening. The cost of this radio is $550 plus shipping. This radio will only be shipped with insurance and tracking. Packing of the radio will be superb, so that it will arrive in great shape.

Holey Moley...Radios can catch fire...? Who woulda thunk it...I carry a fire extinguisher on the back seat, but I'd never think I'd need it for the radio...$550 sounds like a chunk of change, but it appears you did a lot of work on it...Good Luck with it...If you get no takers you may have to try your luck on eBay...I have 3 or 4 radios to sell myself...Un-restored, but they work...I'd be happy in the $150 to $200 range...Oops, we're still in the wrong Forum...

Kevin Yes the old paper type capacitors have been known to cause a fire or 2 and sound like a shotgun when they do cause trouble, been there and cleaned up the mess afterwards. Tony
