So I am rebuilding a fuel pump for a 1029-30. Opened the pump to get to the diaphragm and found that there was a riveted copper washer thing on both sides of the diaphragm. This is not on the rebuild kit diaphragm. I think I will need it. What do I do?????

Sounds like you have the wrong fuel pump for your car. The correct 1929-32 fuel pump has a threaded shaft for the diaphragm and the diaphragm is held in place with some cup washers along with a nut and lock washer.

Ya that's it. I have rebuilt four pumps and when I open it up some have it one way and others have it the other way. Can I get the cup washers someplace?

Don't know of a source for the cup washers other than obtaining several used fuel pump for parts.

Keep in mind, that when ordering a fuel pump repair kit you always order the kit for the model of pump and not the year of car. Otherwise, if the car no longer has the original fuel pump you will receive the wrong repair kit...which, apparently, is what happened in your case.

The correct fuel pump for your application is an AC-405.
