Hi all,

I realise this is a Chevy page but I have a 1932 Pontiac V8 sedan, very similar to the chev in a lot of ways. My steering box is quite badly worn and I'm searching either for a replacement or for parts to rebuild mine. Does anyone know if a 32 Chev is the same, I'm more likely to find a Chev one than a Pontiac one I think.

Regards

Heath

HI Heath.

1932 chev steering columns and box are not much easier to find or repair in RHD configuration than your 1932 Pontiac steering box.
I would suggest that you contact "The steering King" here in Sydney , as they advertise that they will repair any steering box.

If you wanted to still change over to a chev steering box , parts are difficult to find for most 1930,s steering boxes, but you may be able to find a decent used one from the mid 30's to use, but still may need bearings and bushes anyway,

Hi Jack,

I should have mentioned, the car is LHD. I don't think there was any RHD 32 V8 Pontiacs made, not that I can find anyway.

Cheers

526 sedans , and 284 tourers produced by GM-A and GM-Holdens in the years 1931-32-33.( 6 Cylinders)

You may be able to source a replacement box from the US. The steering king may still be able to help with manufacture of replacement bushes and seals etc and repair.
