I recently purchased a 1925 Chevrolet Superior K Touring (body Serial Number 3K 3304 and Engine Serial Number 1553481) which I am going to restore. I would like to know what paint colors it came in. (body, stripe, Instrument pane, wheels) I found another link that said the 1925 Series K Touring was Cobalt Blue Duco # 244319. Was this the only color the 1925 Series K Touring came in? I have had no lucking cross referencing the Duco paint number. This is my first post and any information about the car and paint would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the prompt reply,
I called my local DuPont and Sherwin Williams Auto Paint Supply Houses and they were unable to cross reference the Duco numbers. Are there any current paint numbers that they can use?

First I would like to welcome you to the Chevy Chat. We hope you like us and will hang around for a while and eventually join the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. The perks are numerous. As to paint: GM color Dark Blue, Code 29/42/7349, code changed to 42 in 1981, changed to code 29 in 1982. #B8139L I don't have the info on the gray.

Hi there! I am restoring a 1925 Superior K Touring. I think it is an early 25 as the throttle is located by the steering wheel, and there is no bar between the headlights. The car has been dark grey, which make me think the "Buckingham Gray" may be the right color.
Have anyone found out anything about this color?
Is there anybody out there with a sample of the color, or even picture of a car with this color?
The car is assembled in Copenhagen Denmark in 1925.

Hello, almost neighbor, and welcome to this forum.
Last year I bought a 1925 Chevrolet Superior K Sport Touring. "Sport" is the same as "De Luxe"; bumpers, disc Wheels etc. and more nickel plated details. The car was assembled in Copenhagen. And it is the early 25.
The seller restored the car 1986-1989. He told me he went to the paint shop with a sample of the color and asked if it was possible to find. The man in the shop said "No problem, that color is what we call 'Chevrolet green', and it is the same color that was used on Volvo trucks for many years."
A couple of Chevrolet connoiseurs has told me that this is not a correct color. I have also seen a couple of 1925, maybe also 1926 Chevrolet cars painted in this green color.
Maybe the Copenhagen assembled cars had this color? At least the Sport/De Luxe cars? If so, I don't know if they painted the standard cars dark grey.
In my opinion the green color is very nice. If you can find out if at least some of the Copenhagen assembled cars were green - if I were you I would consider green instead of dark grey.

Thanks for your reply!
According to the "Chevrolet Duco Specifications" Superior Touring and Roadster Models in 1925 had two color combinations, "Cobolt Blue" and "Buckingham Gray". The last with a blue body stripe.
I think the green color you refer to, is the "Biscay Green" which came on the 1926.
It is not easy to find out what is right, as some "26-models", as far as I know, was produced in 1925.
Would be nice if someone have pictures of cars with the two color combinations, "Buckingham Gray" and "Biscay Green".
PS: I am also interested in 21" or 20" spoke wheels, as mine have 19" which I don`t think is correct.

I think Bluezone here (Arvid B.- http://www.chevroletnorge.com ) will be of help to you as he has restored both 1925 and 1926 trucks. Erik Sandberg near Fredrikstad is restoring a Roadster 1925 and MÃ¥rten Patriksson, member of NVK is "racing" around with a unrestored blue Touring from 1925. They all could have or know about "your" color question.

In Australia a green olive colour was available. This was a dark colour a bit like a military green, perhaps with a hint of brown in it. If you have an early '25 model without the headlight bar, then you should have 23 inch wheels with 30x3 1/2 beaded edge (clincher) tyres which have to run at 50psi or more. On a light car like a Chev these give a very hard and rough ride. You probably have good roads, but here that is not so and my car is always bouncing and moving around over bumps. My answer has been to fit straight sided split rims that take 4.40 x 23 low pressure balloon tyres, to make a new car. These rims from the '24'25'26 Willys Overland fit straight onto the Chev wheel, because both cars used wheels made by Hayes. Only the valve hole needs moving. Cheers, Geoff.

I have the late model K 1925 Touring, which had the second color combination called Buckingham Gray, or Gunmetal Gray, as many ads called it in the advertising. Cars built after August 1, 1925 were painted the second combination. At some point my car was painted black and the original gray can still be found near the rear fender wells. It is a very dark gray. I doubt if I could get a good picture of it, as it is so dark.
