Hello all. Can anyone give me some info about the three bolts that hold the spare wheel and tire to the rear mounted support bracket? These bolts on my '31 Coach were replaced sometime in the distant past with generic hardware store stuff. The holes left in the bracket are square which leads me to think that Chevy used carriage bolts originally but I cannot really tell. Is that so, or did they use standard hex bolts, or something else. I'd guess these bolts were the same 7/16 x 20tpi as the normal wheel lugs so the spare wheel could be secured with standard Chevy lug nuts. As always, many thanks for your help. Tom - VCCA #5898

As I recall the bolts were like a carriage bole with two exceptions. The head was not as high and the thread was a 7/16 X 20. The square was forged out in a way to keep in in the bracket.

I went to a side mount and sold my rear bracket many years ago. this is from memory that isn't as good as it was years ago,

Hope this helps you.

The bolts I have in my 31 are as you described, also 3/4" long.
