For 1951, trunk mats, along with 3 piece cardboard surround trunk panels, are offered in brown or black.
What determined the different color, when 1951 passenger cars were assembled?

Yes, it was a running change.
Originally all Specials were black and Deluxe brown. During the year the Deluxe changed to black also.

Yes, it was a running change.

Bob, mine is a June car and it has the black trunk mat.
Those accustomed to the finest...find it in Chevrolet.

I now have added a 2nd '51 to the garage. This one is also a Styleline Deluxe, built in December of 1950. Tan mat.
Original '51 is a July 1951 build. Black mat.
I see black trunk mats for $110 and tan mats for $190.

Where did you find new black mats for sale? I looked recently and only found the tan coloured mats.
