Good Day Everyone
Early 1932 chev cars have a 3/4 fine thread rear axle castle nut. But my car was built with the larger rear axle. I am looking for a 13/16 fine thread castle nut for the rear axle of my 32 chev coupe. Does anyone know who may sell them?
I believe the filling station only has the 3/4 one.
Bye for now
Mike

Hello fullbore,
It appears that 13/16" castle and slotted nuts are not easily found. You may want to go to Trailerpartsdepot.com and look under 'spindle nuts washers and cotter pins'. They list 13/16" smooth spindle nuts with a separate castle cap cover for the cotter pin. That might be something you can use.

I've got both narrow taper (FS CV-720) and wider taper axles hiding somewhere in the garage with king nuts. Hard to tell what year, the car has a mix of parts in this area.

Can I figure out if it's the 13/16" fine thread by using a gauge? I've got to dig through stuff to find both axles and nuts to figure out if they're different. That will take a bit. If you don't find one, I'll be sure to get to it this weekend.

Mark,
You should be able to measure the ID of the nut or OD of the threads to tell if it is 3/4" or 13/16".

Alrighty, I found one of the 13/16th castle nuts (I guess I call it a king nut because kings live in a castle). I don't know if it's fine thread, but it's probably what you need.

If you still need it, send me a PM with your address and i'll mail it.

Thanks, the OD of the threads said 13/16". The ID of the nut is ~3/4" because they go into the threads. It was too many years since shop class, didn't know what I'd find.
