Seems that the forum is awfully quiet over the last month or so. Very few post and fewer responses.

Just wondering if everyone is still here or if everyone is taking time off or just MIA ??

Vacation... I took one of those in 2008, nice memories.

We're stuck in a dumpy, spider infested rental while between homes... most everything is on hold until??? Not sure when but hopefully soon!

Interesting thought- why has the Chatline grown quieter?
Maybe interest wanes as sunny, warm days take us out to the
shop to fire up our rides and go cruising. That sure beats
staring into the computer screen for me!
Certainly our best 'vacations' come from tooling around in
a vintage ride within about three hours of home so we can sleep in our own bed that night. All sorts of neat stuff goes on in that defined area. For example, this weekend we drove up to Springfield, Mo. to attend the American Truck Historical Society
national meet. They have them once a year -different location
each time. Over 700 trucks (and buses) ranging from small pickups to tractor/trailers of 'vintage'definition. It was Great! Everyone was cordial, they appreciated being asked about their entry and would fire 'em up without much prompting. One guy repeatedly hand started the big two cylinder Buuhda engine in his '22 Harvey. I'd of busted my arm trying. Got to tour a '50s GM Scenic Liner GreyHound bus that
is now an'RV' so the owner doesn't need a CDL to drive it.
As I understand it a "vintage" 18 wheeler can also be licensed
as Non-commercial in many states as falls into the RV category.
Ever wonder what retired prof truckers do with themselves?
Not to get embroiled in the GMC's in the VCCA controversy but GMC trucks out-numbered any other brand at this meet; all sizes and types, most very nicely restored. Maybe they do have a good home.
So this was our mini-vacation, five hours driving/ eight hours immersed in the truck world. Who needs the 'Mouse'or the 'Grand Ditch'?

Dan,
Sure wish I would have known that it was a truck meet that had the "Swap Meet Exit 80" signs on I-44. We buzzed through there on Saturday PM not knowing something that interesting was happening. We were toting the '31 touring headed home. Made a detour to Wichita after arranging some work on it there. Was an exhausting trip. A short rest looking at trucks might have been therapeutic.

The 81 hour trip encompassing 2902 miles is why I have not been seen much recently on Chat. Have several more trips scheduled plus working a lot more in the shop.

Sorry that you missed the big truck assembly, Chip. Your long distance travels sound awfully tiring to me now. My body just won't take it.
I forgot to mention one of the GMC weird motors from 1961.
A 702 ci V-12 based on two of their new light truck V-6s. A loooong motor. Some enthusiest created a rat rod truck using
the monster-----of '34 Chevy pickup 'lineage'.It was popular
with attendees. I doubt that it would fit our new VCCA "personalized" category. Dan

I have seen 1 of the double GMC V6 engines here in Aus but not in a truck, it was an interesting concept.
