The wood kit was not a "real" Chev accessory but a few Chev dealers did install them. There was a good article about them that I read in the last couple of years.I"ll will try to find it and get back to you with the info. You are luckey to have such a rare item

A friend of mine in Portland, Oregon has a complete wood trim kit, new old stock and in the original box! He is going to use it on his '48. That has to be a super-rare find to locate one of these puppies in the original box!   laugh laugh laugh

ChefChevy,Here"s the info. on the wood kit.I found it in 75 YEARS OF CHEVROLET.It is on page 183 and has the most complete info. that I have seen. This is an excellant book that all Chev nuts should have. The book is now out of print but is available thru JIM MOLONEY,PO box 60802,Santa Barbara,Ca. 93111.
( see his ad on page 43 of the July G&D)Its only $35.00 PP which is a bargin. This was the most complete book I have on Chev history.Any owning or intrested in the Country Club trim should have it for future refernce. Two newer books that also have some "never before seen" info. are "A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF CHEVROLET 1929-39" and also 1940-54.I think these may also be available thru Jim.

In the "Standard Catalog of American Cars",after giving the specs of the 1948 Fleetline,it has Historical Footnotes and there is a paragrahs that reads..."A unique accessory sold by Chevrolet dealers this year was the woodgrained "Country Club trim package"produced by Engineered Enterprises of Detroit,Mich.,but sold only through factory authorized dealers for $149.50.It could be ordered for the Fleetline Aero Sedan and Fleetmaster Town Sedan or convertible coupe ,but few cars were so-equipped.
You must!!!see the look the wood kit gives the fleetlines :cool2: My kit came with the original instruction packet from Engineered Enterprises....chef....

That reads like a condensed version of the 75 Years of Chev.info. Probably was borrowed from it.Is yours installed on the car & if so did you do it??

Chev Nut,yes my wood kit is installed. The many wood molding components fit like a glove with very little trimming. The lock cover was the biggest hassel. The biggest supprise was the use of grained transfer paper for the major part of the door etc.It worked perfectly but I would have thought it would be a moulded venier. And listen to this, the instructions state to hand brush the transfer paper with varnish, boy times have changed. As for the cost I paid 15 times the original, appearence wise its the best thing I've done to the car chevy !!!!
