Larry,This is how I pack the rear springs on my cars.Jack up so wheels "hang"Get a 1/4 inch (small thread) grease fitting.Drill present hole to the next drill size larger.Drill thru inner canvas lining so grease gets to inside spring .Thread fitting in hole,If you have an 1/4 pipe tap it works better.Fill up your grease gun and start pumping.I drill a second hole about 1/2 way between the present hole and the rear of the cover so more grease gets to the rear of the spring where most of the flexing is.I used to borrow a clamp as shown in manual but this works just as well.It will NOT use a full tube of grease.Keep cardboard under springs for a few days as they will leak out some of the grease.

Gene, Thanks for the input on lubricating rear springs. I'll give it a try. Do you leave the grease fittings installed both aft & forward of the axle.

Larry, I would suggest pulling the grease nipple out. It realy not a big deal but if they get snagged on some thing and pulled out it will make a hole larger than the replacement nipple will fit. It shouldn't be any inconvieniance as I see it. You so seldom have to grease the springs.

Larry, I was out touring for the past week.Just thread fitting in ,grease, then remove and screw into next hole. Some grease will ooze out but this happens when clamp is used also.
