I'm fixing to replace the top insert on my '32 coupe.Hampton Coach sells top kits (I believe for Fords). One is long grain the other is short grain.Which is correct? Is there any other supplier of this material? Who makes the correct trim that goes around the top material? I assume I will have to cut and bend the corners to fit.Is it single or double ribbed? I've heard both are correct from various knowledgable people.I bought some from a Buick supplier that is double ribbed.Problem is that it a angled piece 45 degrees 6 feet long.Made from aluminum. How do you nail down the flat piece and fold over the other half to cover the nails? It would not be a problem if it was a straight shot. But I have 4 corners to bend.

The correct top material or molding for your '32 Chevy Coupe is not available. The original top material has a patterned design that is not matched by either long grain or short grained cobra. I am sure that if someone wanted to have the top material reproduced they could sell some to other '32 Chevy and other GM restorers.

The correct molding has not been reproduced. 1931 used the double ribbed that has been reproduced. You will need to use the old molding if possible. Screw it down with small screws counter sinked into the molding and then covered with body filler.

Chipper is right....the correct top insert material is not available. However, between the long grain and the short grain materials that are available, go with the short grain. Even though it is not correct, it will look better on your car, and it will look more correct than the long grain material.
