So I saw this awesome oil filter info page here...

http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/engines/oil%20filters/#50

I just had a couple of questions about the oil filter on my '48. It seems to be an AC oil filter orange top on blue base with welded bracket basically the SC-650 type but strangely enough still has a drain plug. Anyone else seen one like this? Maybe it is from 1949?

Anyways, my real question is if anyone knows where to get the paint to repaint it (only trace amounts of paint left)?

The drain plug info. is not 100% correct. My 1950, filter installed by dealer in July 1950 - have invoice when car was new) has a drain plug. It is an orange and blue filter.

I painted an SC-650 for a 51 Chev using Rustoleum Gloss Protective Enamel, purchased at Home Depot. The body was Sail Blue (7724) and the lid was Orange (214084). It looked pretty good, though if you held a shiny NOS unit right next to it, you might notice some difference in the colors between the two.
