How much should the 27 lobe lift the push rod. Same for exh and intake

The same question for the 28

If they are different than the easiest way to see if i have the correct cam would be to measure the lift while still in the engine

The grind on a 28 cam is different that the 27. Consider that the lifters for the 27 are very small, while the lifters on the 28 are quite large. Neither the cams or the lifters are the same.

I suggest you go to the Tech Talk Thread and find the "School is in Session" and then go to the discussion on the cam(s).

ron1967, They are listed under two different part numbers in the 1928 parts book. 1927 #346742(use only with lifter 346743) 1928 #348669. So there is a difference.

Go to tech talk as Ray suggests - very good info on the two cams showing longer inlet opening period on the 28 cam. Also go to the Chev manual web site and look at 28 specs doc which shows profile of cam lobes
