I have done two. A 1940 coupe and a 1948 Fleetmaster sedan. I used weatherstripping #B-161 from "The Filling Station" on both with excellent results. It is a formed rubber strip with a lip that seals against the deck lid. The cheap stuff I have seen is just a square rubber strip that fits into the channel. It works ok if you have a perfect fit on your deck lid, but if not, it can leak and also make the lid hard to close. I think the only difference between the '47 and '48 is the short thin strip that goes across the bottom. The main part that goes around the top and sides is the same on both.

I recommend you go with the very best rubber product. It can be had from Steele in Denver, NC.

Steele Rubber Company is the manufacturer of the weatherstripping from "Filling Station" that I recommended in my above post.

I just ordered weatherstripping for my doors from Chevs-of-the-40s. It's manufactured by Steele Rubber. Good stuff.

Steele has good products. They will send you a catalog if you request one. Beamer
