My gut is that STABIL is useful when you are trying "preserve" gasoline, thereby extending it to a maximum of approximately 2 years --- whereas SEA FOAM is more of a "cleaner" that is useful when trying to open up passage-ways and/or get a car to run smoother.

I use regular grade. We have had ethanol in this area of Wisconsin for almost 20 years and have never had a "storage" problem. For the winter I keep the gas down below the 1/4 mark if possible so I won't have a full tank of old gas in the Spring. Also try to avoid getting gas during November to April to avoid the winter mixture which tends to vapor lock more easily. I usually [bleeped] a few ounces of 2 cycly oil to the gas in Fall for several reasons. Due to various problems some of my cars sat for over two years and all got started and ran OK with the old gas in the tanks.

I assume you use the Stabil that is just for ethanol gas. Yes....however I put fresh gas in my cars at least once a year because the Stabil doesn't seem to work well after one year. Also try to avoid getting gas during November to April to avoid the winter mixture which tends to vapor lock more easily. That is the same Ethanol junk that we have here all year long and the crap definitely vapor locks easily. Prior to that we only had the Ethanol garbage from November to February until the politicians mandated that we had to use it all year. Just drained the gas tanks on two vehicles and the Ethanol crap was rancid! After a year and a half the gas was a dark maroon (it was clear when it was put into the tank) and it stunk to high heaven, even though I had Stabil in both vehicles.

For the last few years it was a chore to start my '41 Coupe and my Cub Cadet lawn tractor after setting 4 to 5 months during the winter. The last two years I added Seafoam to my fuel just before winter and my car and mower have started very easy in the spring. My '41 starts and runs better since I started using Seafoam.

"it stunk to high heaven," JYD, Ethanol is not supposed to be used as aftershave. So, what does the stink factor have to do with anything? Just kidding you. Charlie

Just been through the ordeal of getting the very smelly maroon soup out of the gas system... dried to glue on the upper surfaces... such fun.. We have the choice of fuel at the pumps .. the old girl will never taste ethanol again..

the old girl will never taste ethanol again.. Good! I wish that we didn't have the garbage Ethanol as mandatory in our area but unfortunately we are stuck with it. However, Charlie seems to love the stuff. By the type of posts that he makes, I think that he is drinking it!
