I just bought me a new floor mat for my '37 pickup. Can anyone give me a tip on removing the steering wheel so I can slip the cover down the steering column. Any help would be appreciated.

To install your floormat you need to cut slits in the mat to get it around your steering column.

I thought about that and I may end up doing that. I think it woul dlook cleaner if I could remove the wheel and slide the mat down the column. And yes I bought it from the Filling Station....

The OEM mats were slit. Below is the remnants of the original OEM mat that was in my '38. I replaced it with a FS mat.

When I did this task I made a pattern using heavy weight paper. It took a couple of times to get it to where It passed muster. Nothing was removed or damaged otherwise.

Great info. Thanks guys. I'd like to be as original as possible so I'll probably just put a slit in the mat.

It'll be three slits. You also need to slit it from the mast jacket hole to the brake and clutch pedals. If you look closely at my picture you'll see those slits.

camile, where did you buy the floor mat for your 37 pickup. I have a 37 pickup, but didn't know the mats were available; thought I had to cut my own.

thanks geneo

The Filling Station. Part #FS-4920. All the holes are preferated already all you have to do is cut them out. Very easy. $133 with shipping.

When I bought mine the jute backing wasn't included. Are they still that way?

The mat will feel better under foot and last longer with the jute.
