How much should I expect to pay for an overhaul for my motor and trans.? I live in the Dallas area and only know of Ford guys doing rebuilds. Thanks Steve

Complete disassembly, boiling out, magnafluxing, rebabbitting, machining, reassembly probably $4500.

I think I did my 1933 Standard engine for a little over 1/2 that with balancing but I had a lot of help from other members & from e-bay. I did the assembling...Joe

The prices can vary depending on location and the amount of machine work required, if you supply parts, who does the assembly. I had the short block assembled and I finished the rest. I made a test stand for initial start up and adjustment before install back in chassis. Also had radiator recore. Rebuilt the trans myself, flywheel machined and clutch professionally done. Said goodbye to lots of hard earned cash but had a great experience! I will post pics when I get time and learn how.

Joe, I have talked to you on the phone before about my 33 standard coupe. Also I still have a deck lid boxed up to send you some day. Would you know of someone who might be interested in the drive train out of my car? last year I told you I bought an org. 34 5window master that is pretty good shape for it's age. There are problems with the car, but it's all there, will run and drive. I had planned to keep this car all org., but not sure if I have the drive to restore a car like this. May need to put it up for sale and finish something I already have.

Looking at some very "BIG" jobs I sometimes shudder, too. I have found that, "IF" you can break it into very small parts, it becomes something you "can do". I hope you can split it into small little jobs. Next thing, you look back and find that it is going well....that your far along on the restoration. Sort of surprise your self that you have come that far. Good luck.

Believe me i'm no stranger to projects!!! I am working on 3 to 4 cars at one time. I suffer from consentrationitis!(sp) I work on a car for weeks and get burnt out and then start another one or go back to and older project and pick up where I left off and it takes forever to get a car done. This 34 Master is a car that I don't think I would ever get finished and it would become a basket case for someone to try and save. Better to let is set and or sell it and do something else. I still work every day and it's getting harded to come home and work on cars there too.

Your not enjoying yourself and as you have said you have too many projects. Your not going to get anything accomplished by constantly flitting from one to another.

pick a car or truck project that needs the least amount of work and work towards getting that one done.

If the 34 master is a major project and going to consume a lot of $$$$ and even more so major time, time to wave it bye bye into another home that will continue on. Or get a car cover and get it in the corner out of the line of sight.

one of the problems is that the longer something sits there the less you want to work on it. 10,000's of cars sit in garages , started by being dismantled and now just sit there because there is too much to handle both in time commitments and $$$$$$.

Nothing is inexpensive anymore. If you ever watch the January Barrett Jackson auction on TV, you will clearly hear the on air talking heads say " you couldn't restore the car for anywhere near what it just sold for" . why do you think all those people with money are buying those cars, because it would cost more to do it , than just out right buy it.

Sure you don't get the satisfaction of the restoration, but once you have gone thru it all ; the trials and tribulations and setbacks , aggravation, is it sometimes smarter to step up and just buy one already done ??????????
