I'm looking for help and advice on what rolling chassis will work for my 39 Chevy coupe. Any suggestions?

Firstly Welcome to Chevy Chatter.
Most of us here will recommend a 39 Chev coupe chassis, it is much easier to fit it all together as well.

Thank you for you thoughts. Any idea where a person might find such a chassis? Doug

Am I to understand you have a 39 body sitting on "saw-horses"? What happened to the original frame and running gear?

My mechanic thinks it is to far gone to use as a rod project. He thinks I should find a replacement.

If you are building a street rod you might what to check out the various street rod sites on the Internet as well since this site is mostly for the restoration of cars to original factory condition. There are probably some fellows here that can help you but you can probably gain more information from a dedicated street rod site.

Good luck with your project.

I don't know if this would fit, but here's a guy who's '35 body was stolen, but he has everything else:

1935 Chevy Standard Coupe in San Leandro

Good luck! Dean

Get yourself copies of CARS AND PARTS magazine, also a monthly issue of HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS. Both of these have for sale and specifically ***wanted*** sections. If your prepared to drive somewhere to get one put that in your ad text along with CALL ME COLLECT *** only *** if they have a 39 chev frame.

There is also old cars newspaper out of Iola Wisc. On this site there is a wanted section........put your wanted ad there also.

Check out the HOKIE [bleeped] MESSAGE BOARD, or H A M B. as they call it.

Not sure if all 39 Chevrolet frames for passenger cars use the same wheelbase or not. Better find that out.

You want to make all your posts on the subject of the frame for your 39 in the 1937---1942 chevrolet section. People there are most familiar with those years.

A 1935 Chevrolet standard frame 107" wheelbase will only fit the 1934 and 1935 Chevrolet standards. The 35 has an X member and is much stronger than a K membered 34 chassis and the front running brackets are different.

Trying to get one of these 34-35 frames to work under a 39 is not a good idea.......find the 39 frame.

all that's needed now is one fuel efficient vehicle to pull a trailer, a trailer and full tank or 2 of gasoline and away we go to get it.

Next stop sandblaster or redi-strip to chemically clean the metal
