I need an oil pump for my 33 Master. It has the vein style pump. I seen where the Filling Station list a gear type pump for the 33 but they are out of stock and do not know when they will get any more.
I also read in this months G & D where Chevrolet dis-continued the vein style for replacement in 1940 with a 37 style gear pump. Will a 37 pump work with the retro kit the Filling Station sells?
Looking for advice.
Thanks,
James

The replacement gear type pump has the gears of a 1937 pump but the casting is different so as to fit a 1933 engine. The pump came with the 19937-1939 type screen, the tin housing around the screen and necessary tubing and fittings to adapt the pump to the engine.
The 1933 Master replacement pump also fit a 1934 Master, was Chevrolet part # 604508.
The 1929 pump was # 604506, the 1930-1934 except 1933-34 Master was 604507, (34 trucks had Master car engine) and the 1935 was # 604509 and the 1936 was # 604510.
Note that the vanes for your 1933 pump fit 1932-1934.
I was debating whether or not to put the specific part numbers in the article - but didn't.

Thanks for your reply.
I guess my only options are: look for a good used pump then wait and hope the Filling Station will eventually receive some more gear style pumps.
I just spent a lot of time and money rebuilding the engine and I knew the oil pump was weak, don't want to see it go down the drain so to speak. Holding off running the engine until I find a pump.
Thanks,
James

NORS aftermarket vane pumps are out there and they should not be all that hard to find.

If you could email me the ebay number I could check out the pump for you. If it is just a bare pump I wouldn't fool with it.
