Working on restoring a 1931 5 Window Coupe. Noticed that 1 of the outer wires/spokes is missing on one of the wheels. Have searched the forums for repair information and have come up blank. Has anyone had to replace wires? If so, where did you find replacement wires? Also what is the angle at the rim and the length required? It looks like the wire size is .250 or 1/4 inch.

If everything else is ok on the wheel then I would just look for a scrap wheel to get a spoke. I would be curious why one is missing.

Used wire wheels are not that hard to locate for a 1931.

I agree. Its just that the one that is missing the spoke is totally rust free. I have 6 other wheels, but they are rusty and the effort to clean them up seems like it would be more that finding another spoke.

I had honestly not thought of sacrificing a wheel, but I have several that that might be the best use for them.

It sure would be better to have a spoke missing on the rusty wheel rather than a good one.
