Can someone tell if the bulbs are the same for the Dome light inside the 39 as the Light that lights up the Licence plate in the rear on the 39.

The license plate bulb is a #63 3 candle power bulb. The dome light is a #82 6C.P. bulb which means it is twice as bright. Either bulb will fit in either socket.

Technical question:

Does doubling the candlepower of a bulb really produce twice as much brightness? Key word is "brightness."

Just wondering,

I think the 6cp bulb is a #81 for six volt. <Click> I managed to squeeze a #87 into the dome light of my '38. MUCH brighter. This old man can actually see inside the car at night now. The downside is I have to remember to turn it off. It's close enough to the lens to melt it if it's left on too long.

Tiny,
How did you get that fancy slide show to work?

Candlepower was originally defined in England by the Metropolitan Gas Act of 1860 as the light of a candle produced by a pure spermaceti candle at a rate of 120 grains per hour. Spermaceti is found in the head of Sperm Whales. It is used to make high-quality candles. In 1909 the U. S. Bureau of Standards redefined "Candle" in term of an electric lamp with a carbon filament. Then in 1921 it was redefined as to a carbon filament incandescent lamp. In 1937 redefined again as luminous intensity of a black body at the freezing point of liquid platinun which was 58.9 candles per square centimeter. In 1948 the term "Candle Power" was replace with the unit known as (SI) or "Candela". The old unit is about 0.981 candela. In general modern use, a candlepower equates to (1:1) to the number of candelas.
So I can easily see why you are confused as to "Candle Power"
