This could go in MrGoodwrench, I suppose, but because it is unique to 1941 SD, I'm posting it here. I have the kit from Grain-it with the rollers, mat, and video. I was wondering if one of you have already done successful 41 wood-graining and would do mine, using my kit and I furnish the paint. etc. I don't expect to have it done for free. I will pay for the paint and the labor to have the work done. I'm afraid to tackle the job myself because I don't have any confidence that I wouldn't make a real mess of it. Anyone interested or can point me to someone who would be. Thanks, Charlie

Charlie - first off - "No guts; No glory"! You see, if you Woodgrain it yourself, you'll be able to point out to your passengers - Canadian; American or otherwise - that "I woodgrained that dash myself!" Then you can Woodgrain the Garnish Moldings & eventually the WHOLE car. Then you'll have a 1941 "Special Deluxe Woodie"? One of a kind, even!
Mercy! NO humor intended.

Charlie, While I have not used the Grain-It kit, I did grain the dash in my 41. I would have to believe the steps in the process are the same. Depending on your schedule and other offers we may be able to work something out. PM me if you are interested. Mike

Charlie, see if you can get Pat to do it. From pics he posted, he does beautiful graining.
I watched it being done but I wouldn't try it.
Good luck!

Charlie, haven't used their kit but plan to for my 38. I've spoken to the Grain-it owner many times in Florida and have asked a bunch of questions. He's extremely helpful. If you do want someone to do the graining you might save a bunch of money by doing the bulk of the work. I'm sure you can blast the garnishes, prime and apply the base-coat…Dupont suppliers are now selling aerosol cans with your base coat paint selection..then have someone do the graining itself….prep work is the expensive, time-consuming part of the job. Of course the kit is quite expensive too. Billu38

Mike and Gaither, Gaither: Who's Pat? Mike: Are you coming to Charlotte in April? Charlie He likely was talking about me. I doubt I would attempt a '41, even for myself. http://woodgraining.com/SERVICE/15.jpg

Charlie, I was talking about Pat S who built that beautiful '34 coupe. Then, Pat 'fessed up but also declined the job. Pat does some pretty graining!
Billu38 had some good thoughts on the matter.
