Hello all. Are all of the new wire harnesses from different vendors created equal? I see that Filling Station has one. Who else. I am still trying to locate vendors. May even buy the wire and ends and make my own. (Really don't want to go that route due to time constraints.) Thanks

There are two suppliers that I know of. Rhode Island Wiring Services and YnZ yesterdays parts. Both have a good reproduction harness.

What an eye opener-----$500.00 for a harness that has (I'm guessing here) 30-40 ft of wire and a few soldered ends? And about an hour to solder it together. Yea--I know. Everyone needs to make a living. Just extremely shocked.

Try Gary Wallace, 314-293-1991. I bought my harness from him and it much less than $500. Just looked up the current price. Things are getting more expensive. Still less than $500, but more than a few years ago.

Rhode Island Wiring Service has your harness, under $350. I purchased one, for a 31 and as they make each one individually (unless in stock) I had the turn signal wires added to the harness, so it has no add-on wires outside the harness. Read how they are constructed and you may choose them. Very helpfull on the phone. Good luck !

Does anyone have the color codes and wire sizes for the wiring on a 29 sedan? I can see some of the colors on my original harness, but not all. I tried cleaning with soap and various solvents but had no luck. Dale

I might be able to help, Got a new Wiring harness for my 1929 Sedan, it was from Rhode Island, VERY NICE !! cloth covered, color coded, and wrapped.
Came with the Wiring Diagram for easy install. Shows the wire runs (connection to connection), gauge, and it's color of course :p
Would Recommend Rhode Island Wiring with out ANY Question !! Also have the catalog from ??

I had good luck "brightening" the colors of an old harness by spraying with WD-40.

I spoke with the Rhode Island People. Extremely nice and helpful. They can do /add anything to the harness. They can even take your harness and put the sewn on cover on it.
I have now decided to make my own harness however, using their wire and ends. I will save upwards of 300.00 after adding blinker wiring and switch, heater wire and windshield wires.
The difference between my harness and theirs will be the cover. Mine will be wrapped, and theirs is more period correct and sewn on.

I have done business with both Y&Z and Rhode Island for many years. They both do an excellent job and at a fair price. Just be aware that some resellers must charge a bit more to cover their costs. In that case the price might be a little different. Also keep in mind that combining shipping can be a lower price for items from one versus multiple sellers.

If you don’t like the look of an aftermarket turn signal control added to your steering column I would suggest installing the “Turn Signal Relay Box Kit” that YnZ offers. I installed it in my 29 along with a LED light bar that serves as an stop light, turn signal, and hazard flasher which suction cups to the inside of the rear window. The toggle switch that mounts to the bottom of the dash board for turn signal activation is hardly noticed. The turn signals cancel after 15 seconds after the brakes are released. The head light parking lights can be wired to blink for turns too. I am happy with my installation.

The light bar was called "Brake Lighter" but I don't see it advertised anywhere anymore. I got one direct from the supplier on the east coast quite a few years ago and I got another one for my Model A from a vendor at a swap meet. Both for 6 volts. I'll keep looking for one and let you know if I find it.

Found it! Search "Brakelighter" as one word and there is the light bar for the back window. Its by J&L enterprises in Ellington, CT. Also the turn signal box is by Electro Tech in Blaine, MN. web site is www.turnswitch.com I think you will be happy with those products, I am. If you order a wire harnes they can prewire for the turn signal box if you ask. Have fun.
