I am installing an A104 into my '45 GMC 1/2 ton and am in need of a truckstell installation guide. Can anyone help me out. I have had no luck in obtaining one to this point. (too much talkin' and not enough walkin', if ya know what I mean.) So can anyone point me in the right direction. It doesn't need to be a freebie. :)

You are in a categogy that may not help you much ('37-'42) you might want to post in the mech., etc category and the truck category. I assume you have tried the GMC web sites. This site might help also: The parts boards at http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com - This board is for 1947-1998 Chevy/GMC trucks - are done by year model. For example: There is the '47-'55 parts board, '55-'59 parts board... these are like the regular message boards for questions and answers, but they only have parts posts in these sections.. The parts boards are just like the forums boards, you post a message stating you are selling a part or maybe if you are looking to buy a part you state in your topic: WTB(want to buy) and the nature of the part you'd like to buy. You can include as much information as you need to about your vehicle and your application. Then people will respond to comment, ask further questions and offer to buy or sell you(r) parts. I have had very good luck finding parts on this board. As of late 2005, on the forum above: You must be a supporting member of the board to place Ads of things you have to sell. This was done because of a bunch of rip-off scammers taking the money and not sending parts. The owner/founder/head cheese of the site got tired of this and made the rule change. You can still place ads looking for parts(want to buy) for free(I think that is how it works). Contact "mother trucker" he might be able to help you, should be able to use the PM here on Chatter to send him a message.
People are like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get...

Louis, thank you. The reason I posted here is that, through a search, most of the guys "in-the-know" regarding truckstells are here in this forum. I have been around the web, literally, and right here is the closest I've gotten so far. I'll bide my time and hope I hit paydirt shortly.

There was a set of installation instructions on ebay several months ago.I was bidding on them so I would have them for assisting folks such as you.Another person on this site got them as he was installing an OD in his car.I believe that he has since disposed of the car.Do a search for the past year and you may find his name.

Sarge! Where'd ya go? Unit is in today, but I need to know how it's wired. What do use for gear oil/fluid? It won't be all hooked up for the test drive tomorrow. Does the small cable need to be pulled also for forward engagement? I have contacted at least ten different people who claim to have this info and NADA! I am SO frustrated! WHERE do I get this from!?!

UPDATE; I did receive this paperwork from a truck buddy after the unit was installed. It turns out that our calculations were right on the money. Here is a current auction for the same p/w on eBay. I convinced this seller to repost this listing.he did, but after I got my copy elsewhere. If you need it, get it, it's cheap and avalable now. May not be available when you actually need it! :) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/40-4...itemZ180048399843QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Anybody: Which is better: To go to a truckstell or change the ring gear and pinion out to a 3:70 or 3:55? Which is easier to do? What are the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other? Are Trucksells still available or are they "rarer than hen's teeth?" What is the range of years the Trucksell will fit the torque tube, etc? Will the Trucksell fit the frame of a convertible/cabriolet? Thanks, Charlie BTW: This may seem a far fetched and nonsensical series of questions but I sure don't know the answers to them and am interested in knowing in case I ever come across a Trucksell.

Dan, Thanks. I'm sure many of us are interested in the information you posted. And, for going to the trouble to do it. Best, Charlie

I just picked up a Truckstell Overdrive 101. I'm looking to see if you or one of the members might have some information on this device. I'm placing this device onto my 1946 Fleetline AeroSedan. It came off a 1947 Fleetline. Hoping I do not get to any jams. Thanks Carlos J.

I recently picked up a Truckstell Overdrive 101 in working condition. I'm looking to see if anyone of the members might have some information on installing and servicing the unit. I'm placing this unit onto my 1946 Fleetline AeroSedan. It came off a 1947 Fleetline AeroSedan. My good friend sold it to me so he can upgrade his drive-train to a 350 system. All I need now is U-joint Lock Plates to secure the close drive and work on the accelerator linkage. Carlos J. https://vccachat.org/images/icons/default/thumbsok2.gif
