FYI, I bought #87 bulbs to replace the #63s in my 38 coupe's brakelights. The #87s are a much larger bulb dimensionaly & won't fit in the taillight housing. They fit the socket but are far too large to allow the lens to be reinstalled. Unfortunately I had to special order them & now have a box of bulbs I can't use. Anyone want a box of #87s? laugh

Tiny,
Truck suppliers like Jim Carter have a replacement socket assy that is recessed more than stock so your bigger bulb will clear the lens. Trucks used the 37-38 car tail lights until 1953.

I went one step better and modified a pair of aftermarket housings to accept the 1157/1154 bulb and clear the lens. Much better! yipp
