According to the blub specifications for 1937 the brake light takes a number 63 bulb.

My 38 uses 63s for the tail and brake. That's why they're so dim, 63s are a dash light type bulb. It would be nice if someone would make a brighter 6v LED that would fit the assembly.

The # 63 is only a 3 candle power bulb for the tail lights I would think if you used that same bulb for the brake light with the tail lights on you would not be able to tell any differance when brake light comes on Chevs of the 40's carries a # 87 bulb that looks like it would fit and is I beleive 15 candle power

6 volt LED's. Hello Tiny. There was a vendor last year at Hershey that was selling 6 volt tail light bulbs for positive ground. This guy is big into Studebakers. After talking with him at Hershey, he has decided to make 6 volt negative ground LED tail light bulbs. As of right now, he is not quite finished with this project. I will talk to him this year at Hershey, if I can find him. Hershey has closed 2 of the swap meet fields and replaced them with a Green Field ( again ) and a new Orange Field to be on the golf course.

Thanks. They'll have to be the same size as the #63 & 87 bulbs to fit. An outfit called Highspeed Motors sells 6V LEDs that are the size of the bulbs Tim referrs to but they won't fit the housing.
