when doing oil change is it better to use the old fashioned copper washer or go to the nylon-fiber washer that is used on newer cars.only reason i asked friend was watching do my oil change and he asked about the copper washer and of course got me thinking which sometimes gets me in trouble thanks

After trial and error, I've found that the newer style drain plug washers with the built-in rubber gasket work the best on my 216. It seals better than any other copper / nylon / fiber washer did.

I got mine at O'Reilly's and I use them on my daily drivers,too. I can't recall the size offhand but they did have one to fit the original plug on my '47. Now if only the REST of my motor didn't leak...

I agree. Have had good luck with them also.
