have put a post in mechanical section now one last question for today if cant figure out what going on how hard to adapt 53 column into 50 keeping all the 50 outward appearence stock turn signals shifter shaft length ETC.am getting worn out trying to get X-BOX unit right.have machine buddy willing to do everything he can to help me out.if have to cut shaft and mast (53) to same lengths as 50 i know we can probably get it done or even getting 50 mast out of an old box have laying laying around that would be great.open to any and all ideas

Lars Mfg. can very likely rebuild your '50 steering sector for around $300 (not including shipping costs). You can look 'em up on line.

I have a 54 steering box which has the bearings instead of the bushings. I would like to adapt it to my 51 cvt have you had any luck

This can be done but the gear AND the mast jacket must be used + the signal switch cup. If you have an early 1950 it will help some what. If a late 1950 not much difference. What also made the 1953 steer easier was the larger steering wheel.
