Mine came yesterday. Too bad Bill's Baby Grand is a '16 as I got a '14 itch from reading about all those nice cars. Didn't drive my '19 Baby Grand much so might not need another. Besides have trouble keeping those that I do have properly exercised.

My Feb issue arrived a couple of weeks ago and expect March about 17 or 18 if it follows the usual pattern.

MR59,
Maybe you need to treat your mailperson better. Get them a subscription to the the G&D so they don't have to read yours and then try to reseal the bag. Or move to a state that has efficient services. We already have enough of the Left coasters in Texas. Fortunately most are in Austin where we lump them in with career politicians and ignore them. Ya, I know politics has no place in Chat devil .

Wish it was that simple,,,,,
I hear some guys around me me (that still G&D members) get the G&D long before me, I used to see mine on time @ 1st OF EACH MONTH, this prictice, whent on for many years.
sad to say, by the time mine does show up, I sometimes don`t even open it, as most of anything interesting has been covered in CHAT. But I will try to keep a positive out look, but It remains hard when you you looked forward to see the your `ol G&D on time every time, and now you have a some go "unopened" in the recycle bin

They all go into the US Mail system at the exact same time in Missouri, always right around the 22 to 24th of the month, depending on where the weekend falls in a given month. And batches of them therefore arrive in regional postal Zones at the same time. When it comes down to specific local delivery, that is strictly a function of how the local Post Office personnel do their jobs locally. Some are good, some not so good. The vast majority (95%) of members inside the continental US get their magazine within 2 or 3 days - just before or just after - of the First of the month.

MR59 I hope your G&D shows up soon, hang in there! I understand what you mean about the recycle bin....I saw the cover of this month's G&D and immediately put it in the recycle bin, for the life of me I don't understand why the editor of the G&D featured this era of vehicle on the cover. I get the 100 year old thing, but,if we are as a club trying to encourage younger members to join this club,I fear this is not the way to go about it.I'm sorry if I offended anyone, the commentary is just my 2 cents.

Wouldn't you want to be the center of attraction if you make it to 100? Maybe in another 100 years it will happen again, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I haven`t seen my copy yet, so i have no idea what the cover looks like.
but if this club has the intention to survive, yes it DOES need to encourage younger members. I think they need to make this online more "new person" friendly,,,,,,,
who`s going to be competeing for the top posters in the future? or will it be " the last man standing"?

HURRRAYYYYYYY!!!!
GOT MY G&D IN TODAY!!! 11 DAYS AFTER EVERYONE ELSE!
what puzzles me is how can my RENEWAL be mailed out on FEB 25th, and showed up on the 28th,,,,,,3 days to get here just like everyone says it should take,
but my G&D took 11 days more to get here? 14 days total?
now this is going by what members have been posting the time frame that these are mailed out on.
maybe the codes off the mailing slip can tell when it was dropped off?

I may be wrong on this, but I think First Class has the priority and magazines, ect, take the back seat if there is not room for it. Unfortunately, our G&D looks like many other pieces of Last class mail these days.

Ray,
if that was true then more members would see the G&D much later than the 3 day mail time.
why do so many members get theirs on time?
I used to see mine on time, for years ,,,,,,,
but this last year, I have not, that`s why I think the postal code on mine, might shed some light as to when it was really mailed out

I didn't see anything new in any of the comments above.

1) This month's issue was posted ONLINE on Feb 27th. EVERYONE had access to it at the same time - whether you live in California or Australia. As far as I know the only "time-sensitive" content each month are the classified ads. That is why I've been posting the ads in one form or another, for the past 7 or 8 years on the last day of the month.... every month.

2) If you feel that your magazine isn't arriving in a timely manner, you should take the next issue down to the local Post Office on the arrival day and ask THEM WHY!! (I know that you won't like the answer that they give you.) But, you need to realize that the problem is with YOUR local PO, not the VCCA.

A lot of good folks have spent hours and hours working on this issue over the past 5 years or so... and the current distribution is absolutely the most uniform and fair one that could be found. Having watched them grind their way though many, many different solutions, my hat's off to them for all of their efforts.

But----> If you want to "beat the system", then pay for First Class postage. Seriously, that's an option in everyone's membership. But, first, make a visit to your local PO and ask them when they deliver third class periodicals to your neighborhood.... the answer may surprise you. <and be sure to come back and tell the rest of us what they say.>

(Disclosure: I worked for the US Post Office for about 18 months. Worked in many, many postions. I saw how it was run and "why"... I strongly suspect that the "fundamentals" haven't changed much.)

I thing quizzing my postoffice will be my next step, although I`m not "looking to beat any system" just wondering how I went from on time, to 2 weeks late. that`s all.
At least the G&D is posted on line, and I remember when it first was listed that way , it used to be on the 1st of each month, and you had to type in a password to prove you were a member.
maybe in the future the club could look into an ONLINE MAGAZINE, and save all that money from mailing out the G&D

I agree on the online magazine, however reducing the production run may boost the cost to print the ones that are mailed. Also think first notices of membership renewal could be done online . While I realize the whole transaction can be completed that way some (myself included) hesitate when putting my card info on line. All I need is an email billing and I can print it out and send in the dues. If only half the members do so that way it would amount to a $4000.00 savings.

Maybe add PAYPAL to the billing system,,, that`s safe,,, as safe as anything "on-line can get". plus I`m sure most guys on here surf ebay, so a paypal account will be eazy to use

think it`s the same as a credit card 3.5%
but 10 time more secure, you don`t hear about paypals site getting hacked into on the 6:00 news
you can also decide if the sender wants to cover the fee`s
or let the VCCA eat the fee. you get more options
it`s just a thought to help the club save money going down the line.
instead of trying to raise membership to boost the clubs kitty, maybe looking into ways to save money might be easier
