Though I see no evidence of one I wonder if there is supposed to be a crank hole cover for the 1927 radiator shell.

Yes, the 27 had a crank hole cover. They are a tough find. They resemble an electrical box hole plug except they are slightly different when viewed from the rear. The turned flange has a metal reinforcement unlike the electrical box hole plug. The crank hole cover is aluminum.

Does anyone have a picture of one of these? I am using a cover that looks like it is for an electrical box. On all the advertising pictures the cover has a small round piece in the center that looks like it could be the head of a rivet.

Have you tried EBay? I've seen one pop up every year or so. Not the most common part available, but they do exist out there; you just have to check regularly like weekly or more. I could take a picture of my 28 cover, but don't know if they are the same as the 27. Contact me at artp@cbs-inc.com or arts28@cbs-inc.com and I will send one to you rather than post on VCCA.

While at a recent car show I saw a 1928 Chevy grain truck. The steel radiator shell appeared to be the same size and shape as the alumninum shell on my 1927 Coach. Is this correct? The truck also had an aluminum crank hole cover. Is this cover the same as the 1927 Coach cover? As always thanks for your insight.

The '27 and '28 one ton trucks used a black painted radiator shell of the same design as the USA aluminum '27 passenger. Canadian '27s used a nickel plated steel shell of that design. To complete the listing the '28 passenger used an aluminum shell with a large oval at the top for the emblem. '28 1/2 ton used a black painted steel version of that shell as did Canadian passenger (again plated). I am not home so I can check for sure but think the crankhole cover would be the same design passenger and truck. Might be the truck was steel and the car aluminum. I am sure someone can either verify or refute. I can check my references once back home.

On Ebay click on completed auctions on the left side menu. It should appear then.
