Any other owners of 1937 - 1939 Trunkless sedans out there? Mine is a 37 Master Deluxe and I have a few minor parts issues/questions, but mostly want to take a little poll to see how many are out there - I only know of about 4-5 that are currently in existence (this would be American built cars and not Austrailian, etc.). These very Lincoln Continentalish cars are very beautiful and it is fun when people make their way to the back and see a Continental rear spare and the sloped back - most have never seen one. Let me know, thanks!

Wanted to pass this on - go to ebay and look up item #220009410769, a 37 Master Sedan, looks really nice with lots of accessories, went to about $14K and didn't meet reserve - would love to stay in touch with someone who buys it!

My senior year in high school (51) the neighbors boy friend bought a used 39 with out a trunk. I had never seen one before, got a good look at it that night and it was the only time I ever saw it, they rolled it, she was thrown from the car and the car clipped the end off one finger. I kind of think the boy friend became history about that time also. I do not recall having ever seen another one. talk talk talk

A really beautiful and unique car...I can see why the reserve was higher than the last bid.

\'37

Would make a great car for family touring.

In the Columbia River Region, we have a '37 Master two door which is a prize winner. Gorgeous restoration.

PDXjoe, any chance you can email me some pics of your car? If it isn't too much trouble, I would love some pictures of the back seat open or perhaps the hinge assembly that puts the seat up, mine may be missing (I have some misc parts in boxes that may have them, but I am not sure yet). My seat back is simply "resting" in place right now and I need to see how it works. Anyone have these parts? I am also missing some of the clamps and trim from the continental spare, any of these out there? Last but not least, I am missing the "opera bar" and ashtray from the back seat (4 door), anyone have these? My email is richard.doyle@wamu.net. Thanks!!

The '37 on E-bay is nice. Was white a factory color in '37. I know there were white '39's. Love those "croker" tires. Had some on my first car--about every other month one "croaked" and I had to replace it. Never owned Firestones since.

A lot of those flatbacks went to New Zealand. They were probably Canadian built. There was also one here in Brisbane that came out of New Zealand. Also saw 3 39s in one yard back in 1978 on a trip over there.

The first car I owned was a 38 Master 85 four door flatback, had already covered 300,000 miles when purchased in 1967, and I let it go a year later It was Canadian production right hand drive. As RonDaw said there were a lot down here and can still be found.

True, I believe there were export versions with right hand drive that went to New Zeland or Australia (they may have had differences in the bodies as well), but what I am referring to are American built, left hand drive Coaches (2 doors) or Sedans (4 doors). From these emails and other contacts, I have tracked down a total of 6 (2 and 4 door). Mine is one of only 2 Master Deluxe 4 doors that I have heard about so far. Any others out there? Thanks everyone!

I should note, one of 2 1937s that I am aware of. Thanks again!

There is a 1937 Master 2 door coach (trunkless slant back)in the Romeo/Rochester, Michigan area that I viewed this past Wednesday evening at the local Cruise. The vehicle is well restored and slightly modified having a 1954 235 engine and has been re-upholstered with incorrect fabric. Otherwise it appears to be stock.

Years ago I saw a 1937 3-window coupe with rumble seat and wire wheels. It was driving by so I didn't get a chance to inspect it. I always wondered if that was a factory car or one somebody had put together from '36 and '37 parts.

Richard,
I've been driving an original 37 Master Coach since 1970. All my back seat linkage is still operational. The seat back hinges at the top and there is a support rod that swings down to the driver's side back arm rest. this holds the seat back up to access the load compartment.

Thanks Bob, any chance you could send me some detail photos of the hinges and the support rod?
My email is richard.doyle@wamu.net, thanks so much!
