My 34 1/2 ton doesn't have a VIN tag, at least I can't find it. Where else might I find the VIN for it? And where should the tag be?

You won't find a VIN on a 1934. You might find a serial number plate attached to the firewall near the starter. Usually has 2 screws holding it on....if it's still there....Joe

VIN numbers were not used until many, many years later. Prior to the introduction of VIN numbers "serial numbers" were used instead.

Thanks guys, but let me clarify. If the tag with serial no. is missing is there anywhere else on the truck that has the serial number? Is it stamped or otherwise marked somewhere on the truck?

Thanks, I've got a title with a serial no. I was hoping to be able to verify it was correct for my truck.

That certainly does look like an original serial number. I guess you could get one of the replacement plates & stamp it yourself. Did you see where it was supposed to be?...Joe

As I understand:
9: Norwood, OH
DB: 1934 Model 1/2 ton Commercial Chassis 112" wheelbase
04: Built in April
22440: Sequential production number starting with 0001.

The sequential production number starts at 1001, not 0001.

If you are from the West Chester above Cincy your truck did not venture too far from where it was built like my 37,do you know any of the history of your 34.

The title I got with it shows it being in Englewood, OH. Just north of Dayton, my brother found it in Middletown, I bought it from him. Yeah it's close to home I'm only 10-12 miles from Norwood.

How did you establish that info? I didn't know it could be traced like that at least one that was before computers. I would like tohave it for my records. Englewood could be Dayton but I transferred the title to me in Butler county in 2007

The original owner was a business and the remains of the lettering could be seen on the truck and I found a reciept under the seat,my great uncle bought it to use on his farm in Camden so I do not know how many owners between the original and him and then it went to me.

Other then reciepts and other paper work there is probably no way to trace previous owners,I would love to find out what dealer mine was sold from but unless I can find anyone related to the business that bought it new I doubt I will ever know.
