I recently read (I think on this site) about a Participation Award. What is it? Is there somewhere I can see what one looks like?

nhinchas, Yes, go to the VCCA Home Page and go to "Member Services" at the top tool bar. Click on "Resource Center" If you are a member you should be able to set up a password if you don't have one already. In the resource center is "Judging" and in that link there is all kinds of information about the judging system. If you have problems let me know and I will contact you personally. Yes. The participation award is only given when VCCA judging is done at a Meet or Tour.
