I have OEM Guide, Fog Lights on my 41, Spec. Del. Coupe and want to re-wire & re-install them.

Questions:
what type/color of wire was used originally ?
What path does the wire take, from lead to light ?
What part of the bumper bracket do the "clamps" attach to ?
Are the recessed "lines" {each side} of the fog lights supposed
to be painted Red ?

I saw 3 cars in GJ with fog lights. Each car seem to have them attached to a different part of the bumper bracket bar, {Inside bar, in-between the bars, outside bar}

Also each car had the "connecting" wire coming from a different area/place {through the rubber bumper grommet, under the bumper bracket, etc.}. And one car did not have them wired. At least I could not see a wire.

All help is greatly appreciated. laugh laugh

Wire color - "light black" or very dark gray cloth covered.

Path of wire...I do not have the 1941 instructions but for 1942-48 wire from right lamp is wrapped around the radiator support tie bar and soldered to the left lamp wire next to the core support (left side).Left wire runs from lamp to switch in car via left inner fender skirt following regular harness.
Let me start over.Right wire runs from lamp thru grille, around core support tie bar across to left wire, soldered to left wire next to core support.Left wire runs from lamp thru grille,,thru gromet in inner fender skirt, following regular harness to dash. The original and correct switch has two terminals. One is marked "tail lamp" and one "road lamps"..A wire is connected to the tail lamp terminal on the head light switch and other end connected to the "tail lamp" terminal of the fog light switch. The wire from the fog lights is connected to the "road light" terminal.
Wired in this manner the fog lamps can be used only when the parking or head lamps are on (when ever the tail lamps are on)
I personally prefer to have the fog lamps wired so I can turn them on when ever the ignition switch is on.
The lamps should be mounted so the outter part of the lamp is about even with the outter frame of the grille and set back so the rear of the lamp is about 2 inches from the grille.
The lines are red.
I would run the wire between the grill bars behind the lamp and low down (not sure if this is correct but the way that I have alwys seen it done.
The above is part opinion and part going by instructions for other years. It would be the way I would do mine if I had a '41 unless I was told different.

(thanks for the pictures-better than the ONE I took)

well i have the instuction sheet for installing the 41 fogs , it tells you to mount the brackets to the outside bumper bracket, the wire was black in color and it runs around the light harness into the car to the switch, it says to bring one wire from the battery side of the ignition switch to the fog light switch , the lines on the side were painted red along with the small emblem hope this helps
