If the engine was a 1933 engine it would not need the brackets for the throttle as the 1933 has a hole in the block threaded for the throttle bell crank. It also would have three stove bolts in the top edge of the side engine cover. It is a bit hard to see the casting numbers on the RH side of the block, would have to check with the seller. As well as the vacuum advance dissy, the down draft carby is not correct.(hence the manufactured throttle pivot and links. The chrome windscreen posts are not standard on US assembled Phaetons. They were chromed on Deluxe Tourers here in Australia, but not the standard tourer.
It is missing the wiper motor, and correct mirror and bracket.Pity about the tire marks on the back seats squabs. The rear interior door handles are deleted/ missing.
The horn and coil are incorrect.
The front fenders have two set of fender irons, and the double bead on the edge, so your idea of a Canadian car may be correct. The chrome windscreen posts , may also then be correct on a Canadian assembled car.

HI Aussie 31. The Australian tourers did not come with cowl lamps as seen on US versions. The deluxe tourer, special sedan and deluxe roadster came with fender mounted lamps which were made here is Australia , and have GM_H stamped into the base under the chrome cover.

Thanks for the education. This is why I love this place. I always go away from here with more than I came with. The technical advice here, is as good as it gets, hence your all appreciated. Now, if someone will stop by later to plow the dang snow from the driveway, life will be great!

A very nice and rare car, and many more questions could be raised by a discerning buyer. From my information, '31 Phaetons were only available in the USA from the factory in a basic model, i.e. you could not order a deluxe model with twin sidemounts, cowl lights etc from factory.
I am not informed as to what one could order from factory for a '31 Phaeton assembled in Canada. As noted, this car has the extra brace for the front fenders, common to cars assembled in Canada, as was the double bead fenders. I also note the sealed beam conversion of the headlights, which was a common "upgrade" in the 50's (my '31 Coach was also upgraded).
Of course, a dealer in '31 could accessorize a car once it arrived from the factory, including adding sidemounts, cowl lights, bumpers etc as per a buyer's checkbook allowed.
Elsewhere there is a discussion that no '31 Phaetons were delivered to Canadian customers in that year, although some were assembled in Canada for export. So just what this particular car started out as will likely require considerable research if the future owner wants to establish its pedigree better. Still a fine and rare car, would love to own it.

FYI, I found the reserve price to be a little high for me considering the many questions this cute car presents. $24,900
